At the Reform Circus…
- Romford Labour

While Romford residents are dealing with real local issues, two Reform councillors, Cllr Petru Dinsorean and Cllr Alex Donald, took a day out to Birmingham for the Reform UK Party Conference.
They posted a glowing review online, calling the atmosphere “electric”, the ideas “extraordinary”, and praising defected former Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell as “excellent”.
Funny. That is not quite how the rest of the country saw it.
While the Havering delegation was busy applauding inside, Andrew Rosindell was outside the main hall being grilled live on television. When BBC Newsnight pressed him about serious Channel 4 News allegations involving attempts to bypass campaign finance laws designed to prevent foreign interference in British politics, his “excellent” defence amounted to repeatedly muttering “I am worried about our country”.
We are worried too. Mainly about Reform’s casual relationship with transparency, scrutiny, and the rules everyone else has to follow.
Here is what Havering Reform is actually celebrating:
The “First 100 Days” fantasy script
Nigel Farage’s latest set of slogans, loudly applauded by local councillors who seem far more interested in national theatrics than fixing Havering’s budget, services, or infrastructure.
Controlled scrutiny
A conference built around friendly daytime TV setups with Jeremy Kyle, carefully avoiding independent journalists. Because when a real reporter asks a basic question about donations, the whole performance collapses.
The behaviour they do not mention
They do not mention the Olympic level journalist dodging, where even the gentlest question about funding sends Reform figures scrambling for the nearest fire exit.
They do not mention the creative attempts to dance around campaign finance laws, the very laws designed to stop foreign interference in British politics, followed by the inevitable on camera meltdown when someone asks where the money actually comes from.
They do not mention the habit of giving a warm glow to racists, whether through platforming inflammatory rhetoric, sharing content that tiptoes around extremist talking points, or pretending not to hear supporters when they cross the line.
They do not mention the public event bravado, including those charming moments where Reform supporters have been filmed assauting hecklers.
They do not mention the constant internal chaos, the resignations, the scandals, the “I am no longer associated with this party” statements, all quietly swept under the rug so they can keep pretending they are the fresh, clean alternative.
And they definitely do not mention the growing tally of Reform councillors who have defected to other parties. Not just one, a steady stream. Some have walked away entirely, some have jumped to independents, and the most recent has rejoined Labour, apparently deciding the circus tent was not the political home they were promised.
Because once you strip away the slogans, the stage lights, and the billionaire funded theatrics, what is left is not a movement. It is a travelling circus that keeps losing performers.
While Reform spends its time dodging journalists and shouting from the sidelines, Labour is getting on with the job of delivering for working people, protecting public services, and keeping politics clean.
Havering deserves serious representation – not a day out at a billionaire-backed pep rally. 🌹
